Welcome, Micro-Explorer!
A huge, hidden world is waiting for you. Let's get tiny and start our adventure!
Meet the Microscope!
This amazing tool helps us see things that are too tiny for our eyes. Click on the different parts of the microscope on the left to learn what they do!
Click a part!
Select any part on the diagram to get started.
Eyepiece (or Ocular)
This is where you look through! It's like a special magnifying glass for your eye.
Body Tube
This connects the eyepiece to the lenses below. It makes sure you see a clear picture.
Objective Lenses
These are the powerful magnifying glasses close to the tiny object. You can spin them to get different powers!
Arm
This is the "handle" you use to safely carry the microscope.
Stage
This is the flat platform where you place your "specimen" (the tiny thing you want to look at).
Focus Knobs
You turn these knobs to make the picture super sharp and clear instead of blurry.
Light Source
This little lamp or mirror shines light up through your specimen so you can see it properly!
Base
This is the heavy bottom that keeps the microscope from tipping over. Safety first!
Parts Bin
Game: Build-a-Scope!
Drag the parts from the bin to their correct spots on the outline!
Game: Focus Challenge!
Move the Focus Knob (the slider) until the picture is perfectly sharp! What do you see?
The Micro-Gallery
Look at all the amazing things you can see with a microscope! These are just drawings, but the real things are even cooler.
Plant Cell
Plants are made of tiny building blocks called cells. This is what gives them their shape!
Amoeba
A tiny living thing that's just one single cell! It moves by changing its shape, like a blob.
Pollen Grain
This is tiny, spiky dust from a flower. It's what makes new plants (and makes some people sneeze!).
